We lose one of the finest actor of the Bollywood film industry: Om Puri

India mourns at the tragic demise of the Veteran actor Om Puri. Puri died, aged 66 after suffering a massive heart attack early on the morning of 6 January 2017 at his residence in Andheri.
The family member says that Puri was "found dead" in his bed at his home in the Western city of Mumbai early on Friday. Media reports say that the actor died of a heart attack.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, close friend of the actor confirms the sad news on twitter. Puri returned home last evening from a shoot, and his doorbell went unanswered on Friday morning, after which his driver raised an alarm.

Born on October 18, 1950, hailing from Ambala, Haryana, Puri studied at the Film and Television Institute of India and at the National School of Drama. He was critically acclaimed for his unconventional roles in Aakrosh(1980), Ardh Satya(1982), Disco Dancer(1982), Maachis(1996) and Dhoop(2003).

Om Puri was undoubtedly a phenomenal actor of his century. The Indian actor appeared in mainstream commercial Pakistani, Indian, British, and Hollywood, independent films and art films. He also did some cameo roles in American films. He was awarded Padma Shree, the fourth highest civilian award of India. He also bagged some National film awards.

He made his film debut in the 1976 Marathi film "Ghashiram Kotwal". Beginning his journey from here, he has worked in more than 120 films and many Television serials and series like "Bharat Ek Khoj" and "Second Generation".
